Estate Zootenvaal has been inviting people to experience a classic Caribbean retreat since 1972. Our four vacation homes each offer private beach access and your own slice of paradise on St. John in the US Virgin Islands – an island unlike any other in the Caribbean. St. John has found its own way into the 21st century by maintaining its natural beauty in a way many other islands have not. Nearly two thirds of the island’s twenty square miles are protected by the US Nation Park System. The Virgin Islands National Park was opened in 1956 after a generous donation from Laurance Rockefeller. Estate Zootenvaal sits just outside the park and takes great pride in its responsibility to both share the natural beauty of the Caribbean with its guests and also protect this gem of the Caribbean Sea. Traveling to Estate Zootenvaal will give you the first taste of the seclusion that will define your stay on St. John. Estate Zootenvaal may only be a few miles from many popular Caribbean destinations, but our vacation homes are seemingly a world, and a generation, removed from the highly developed and compartmentalized resort experiences on other Caribbean islands. There is no airport on St. John; flights are available to the nearby island of St. Thomas. When you contact Estate Zootenvaal to plan your stay, we will give you information about the ferries to the island of St. John as well as transportation from the Cruz Bay ferry port on St. John to our vacation homes. Our four private vacation homes sit on the shores of Hurricane Hole and look out to the Caribbean Sea. Estate Zootenvaal can accommodate groups as large as sixteen and our private homes are also perfect for small groups and families. Our four homes, Mangrove, Spinnaker, Sunrise, and Turtle Watch, can each sleep four people and each offers private bathrooms, kitchens, private beach access, and one of kind views of some of the most beautiful and well-preserved terrain and seascape in the Caribbean. Estate Zootenvaal is perfectly situated to be your portal into your own discovery of the natural beauty of St. John, and you can be sure that we are committed to protecting the natural splendor of the Virgin Islands. As a testament to our commitment to the union of hospitality and eco-conscious tourism, we have a family of return visitors each year that has found a special home on our private beach. Every year, sea turtles return to our beach to build their nests and lay their eggs. They then return to the ocean while entrusting the birth of their next generation to our protected shores. We see the turtle’s choice to return to our beach as a reminder that it is imperative for Estate Zootenvaal to keep its space on St. John as uncorrupted as possible and as a vote of confidence in our efforts so far. Once we show you the serenity of our vacation homes on the St. John Virgin, we feel that you will also become return visitors to our peaceful resort.
