Magnitude-4.9 earthquake sends tremors across Virgin Islands

Did you feel the earthquake last week? A 4.9 magnitude earthquake shook homes for about 10 seconds a little bit after 11pm on August 12th, 2014. Fortunately, there were no reported damages or injuries and there was no threat of a tsunami. The tremor struck about 11:05 p.m. at Latitude 18.7 degrees North and Longitude 65.1 degrees West at a depth of about 24 miles. The quake's center was located about 30 miles northwest of St. Thomas; 73 miles from St. Croix; and 37 miles from St. John; and 65 miles northeast of San Juan.
